RP-SG Mavericks Kolkata take on U Mumba TT in Tie 8 of Ultimate Table Tennis Season 3 at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi.

The Mavericks recently registered their first win in UTT with victory over Puneri Paltan Table Tennis in Tie 3, and U Mumba went down to Season 2 champs Dabang Delhi T.T.C. in their previous encounter to put both teams on a win and loss apiece.

It will be a battle for pride because both teams are level on points at the bottom of the table and will want to climb their way out and on substantial points to maintain a healthy position.

Looking at their previous outings, U Mumba were outdone by experience, while the Mavericks clicked into form and thus found results.

There will be quite a few interesting matchups today, with U Mumba’s Manav Thakkar, Kirill Gerassimenko, Sutirtha Mukherjee and Doo Hoi Kem ready to take on Manika Batra, Matilda Ekholm, Sanil Shetty and Benedikt Duda.

Manav Thakkar has had a baptism of fire so far as captain, leading the young U Mumba outfit against some big names in the competition, and will be proud of what they are achieving. That will have to be translated into points on the table though, as he comes up against Sanil Shetty.

Doo Hoi Kem and Matilda are experienced paddlers in the competition, and so are Manika and Sutirtha, and having played each other before, will be well equipped to deliver what’s necessary for their teams respectively.

Debutants Benedikt and Kirill will be eager to put on another show for the crowds, the two young paddlers providing much entertainment in their previous outings.
