In a first of its kind in the Ultimate Table Tennis, Puneri Paltan Table Tennis take on U Mumba TT, as two teams from the same region compete in a derby clash in Tie 10.

Season 3 witnessed the association of teams to cities, and this clash will see the two teams from Maharashtra take on each other, with the Paltan sitting at the bottom of the table at the halfway mark and U Mumba in a more comfortable position, second on the table sharing points with Chennai Lions.

Luck has not favoured the Paltan after their opening day victory over Season 2 champions Dabang Delhi T.T.C. and they suffered back-to-back defeats in their previous two outings. Captain Harmeet Desai hasn’t been able to win a single match so far even after performing well, and is due a win soon. Chuang Chih-Yuan has led the lot in the Men’s singles, with Ayhika Mukherjee and Sabine Winter chipping in too, and Paltan will rely on these paddlers to provide the ammunition today too.

U Mumba are fresh off a well earned victory over RP-SG Mavericks Kolkata, with Manav Thakkar finally getting on to the winning side. A dominant performance by Sutirtha Mukherjee  in the Women’s Singles and Doo Hoi Kem in the doubles matches will be key points the team from Mumbai will take into the tie today.

Kirill Gerassimenko has had a good tournament so far in terms of performances but not in terms of results, and up against Chuang Chih-Yuan, he will face another tough day at the office.
