RP-SG Mavericks, Puneri Paltan set for fiery Tie 6
30 Jul, 2019

Two teams who have lost their previous ties will look for redemption, as RP-SG Mavericks Kolkata and Puneri Paltan Table Tennis take to the arena at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi.

A star-studded RP-SG side was completely outplayed by Goa Challengers in their first outing this season. A lot was expected out of Manika Batra, Matilda Ekholm, Sanil Shetty and Co., but they had no answer to the brute force of the Challengers. They will be eager to put that behind them and show the fans what they are capable of on a good day.

Puneri Paltan has played two games so far, winning one and losing the other. They changed a few things in their second outing, shuffling the mixed doubles team and experimenting with a new combination, and it will be interesting to see who they field today in Match 3.

Captains Harmeet Desai and Manika of the Paltan and Mavericks respectively have yet to register a win in the competition and will look to change that in tonight’s fixture.

With so much quality on both sides, it’s hard to pick a winner, and it will all go down to strategy, whether it’s Ayhika Mukherjee’s wily gameplay matched with Matilda Ekholm’s fierce smashes or Manika’s wizardry with the paddle, or it’s Sabine Winter’s athleticism against Kolkata.

Another key battle to watch out for will be a possibility of Harmeet Desai facing Sanil Shetty in the battle of Indian stars. Add to that Chuang Chih-Yuan’s current form and there is not a moment to miss.

Tune in to Star Sports 1, Star Sports 1 HD, Star Sports Select 1, Star Sports Select 1 HD, Hotstar and JioTV today at 7 pm IST to witness all the live action in Tie 6.
