The first semi-final clash is here and we’ll have U Mumba TT and Dabang Delhi T.T.C., battling it out to book a spot in the finals. The road uptil now hasn’t been easy for both the teams and they will look to give their all in the knockout stage.
U Mumba TT, however had a good start and enjoyed it through the competition, winning ties with good margins, losing just one but that did not affect them much as they finished right where they wanted to be; at the top position.
Dabang Delhi T.T.C. had a rocky start to campaign as they lost to Puneri Paltan Table Tennis is the season opener but they caught up to speed just fine and finished at the 4th position on the league table.
Last time, U Mumba TT and Dabang Delhi T.T.C. faced each other, the defending champions got the better of the debutants as they registered a resounding victory over U Mumba TT with the scoreline 9-6.
Even though U Mumba TT lost their tie against Dabang Delhi T.T.C., they finished at the top of the table and that being said, they also have paddlers with the likes of Manav Thakkar, Doo Hoi Kem and Kirill Gerassimenko. Sutirtha Mukerjee is also on a hot streak as she defeated Cheng I-Ching in her last encounter. Also, the change in leadership might help U Mumba TT get that desired win over Dabang Delhi T.T.C. that they couldn’t do, last time.
On the other hand, Dabang Delhi T.T.C. also has some firepower at their aid. Led by India’s highest ranked men’s paddler, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and a squad comprising of some big names such as Bernadette Szocs and Jon Persson will also be a tough one to crack. Both teams are equally good on paper, but we can draw one conclusion from all this; we’ll be witnessing some of the best table tennis action tonight.
Tune in to Star Sports 1, Star Sports 1 HD, Star Sports Select 1, Star Sports Select 1 HD, Hotstar and JioTV today at 7 pm IST to watch the semifinal tie.
